42. Getting involved

The theme of giving back continues as I also volunteer to be part of the Patient Assembly at my local hospital and attend a Macmillan Cancer Voices training day. All of us, bar one, have personally experienced cancer – some with permanent disabilities as a result. I feel slightly inadequate and wonder if I am being naïve in assuming I can represent other cancer patients in an effort to make improvements to cancer services. I feel slightly reassured when the trainer informs us that the three biggest complaints from all patients (cancer or otherwise) are car parking, wait times and breaking bad news. I can relate to these.
