An unexpected diagnosis of early breast cancer led to a rapid rollercoaster journey through a double mastectomy and reconstruction. My journey has been a very positive one with excellent care and support from my consulting Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon, Mr Giles S L Davies BSc MD FRCS.. My surgeon and I agreed it might be helpful for other patients to understand and see what's been involved - physically and emotionally - at each stage, as well as the decisions that have had to be made on the way.

8 weeks after my third operation the
scars are smoother and starting to fade. The breasts definitely have more
movement than previously – perhaps not quite the long awaited jiggle factor
though.
