19 weeks after my first operation, I return to the clinic for my final
expansion. It is a quick and painless process to inject more saline, but later
I feel pretty sore as the muscles are stretched and the skin is taut. I'm
relieved when Giles decides not to further inflate the right hand side but just
brings the left hand side up to the same size. Finally I'm on my way to having
a matching pair - which, if I think about it, I haven't had since pre-pregnancy
days. There is quite a big gap between
the breasts and they protrude at the sides, getting in the way of my arms when
I type at the keyboard. Giles reassures me again that the gap will diminish
with the permanent implants and the shape will be a more natural teardrop one.
The scar on my left nipple is already receding and is very neat. I still wake
up several times a night as I inadvertently move in my sleep and am woken by
discomfort around the edges of the implants, but the pain is not bad.
