I uncover the nipple on my left breast
as the dressing is starting to peel away. I clean the iodine off gingerly and
two pieces of remaining suture thread come away - I can't feel anything, I have
no sensation at all on my nipple or breast. The scar is a very neat semicircle
on the bottom half of the areolar area - I'm impressed and mentally thank Giles
(again) for his skill and care. I can see why it must have been tricky to
insert the implant through what seems a very small opening - I excuse him for
my yellow and purple jellyfish week. Despite the upturned smile of the scar, my
left breast looks rather sad, shrunken and misshapen, particularly in
comparison to the unfeasibly upstanding right hand side at this stage.
