Discomfort is minimal now and I'm
looking forward to doing some exercise. Running is still not on the cards but
cycling is fine, avoiding potholes. The weather takes a turn as we
approach autumn and I wake up in the middle of the night with a breast that is
freezing cold to touch. There are goosebumps only over half the skin area which
is odd. My husband reassures me sleepily that saline is like the sea and
doesn't freeze.
The steri strips have come off now - the
scar where my nipple should be is red but neat, about 2 inches in length. The
skin is quite smooth from the bio oil I have been rigorously applying. Note to
self, I should remember to moisturise my feet this much. I'm ok with my
appearance - it feels a small price to pay for the gift of life and I'm
grateful to my surgeon and his team.
